Are you at the stage of your life seeking a career change? Do you feel stagnated in your current job, but you are not sure what is your next career move? Do you want to go back to work, you are not sure what you like to do? If you are asking one of these questions, perhaps it is time to see a career counselor to help you make your next career decision.
Do you live to work or work to live?
The process of making a career decision may look like the following:
You learn about your aptitude skills, values, interests, personality style, and strengths.
You learn the world of work through reading career information that has information about job outlook, job description, job pay, career clusters, major, etc. You can also practice information interviewing and job shadowing to seek further information about a particular career.
You connect the dot when you discover your career passion. You do this by learning who you are through your personal characteristics, and how these personal characteristics related to certain careers.
To see if a career is a fit for you, you must practice experiential learning.
Experiential learning involves learn by doing, so if you want to see a career fits you, you can volunteer, do an internship, apprenticeship, and seek an entry-level position.
Do what you love and not work another day.
To begin embarking a new career that you would like to pursue, first see a career counselor to make a career plan, then see an academic counselor to make your educational goasl, and finally see a career coach to seek your next employment move.
